This series explores the many musical settings of Tolkien’s poetry in The Lord of the Rings, examining how different artists interpret the songs, chants, and verses woven throughout the story. Each module focuses on selected poems from one book of the trilogy, combining close reading with discussion of melody, rhythm, instrumentation, and adaptation. Participants are invited to imagine their own musical approaches and consider how music shapes meaning in the text. No musical background is required—just a love of Tolkien and curiosity about how his words become song.
